Dr. Rahul Shah

Dr. Rahul Shah is a young Gastroenterologist from Mumbai in Maharashtra with vast experience in

• Gastroscopy- More than 500 diagnostic procedures done since 2007, oesophageal dilatation with TTS balloon, bougies, APC therapy, variceal band ligation, histo acryl glue therapy, gold probe, Sclerotherapy, adrenalin injection and heater probe use.
• Colonoscopy- More than 500 diagnostic procedures since 2007(TI intubation rate >95%), polypectomies level 1 and 2, Endoscopic mucosal dissection, colonic stricture dilatation, some experience with hemorrhoid banding.
• ERCP’s, diagnostic and therapeutic EUS.
• GI Physiology- High resolution manometry and pH studies.

Dr. Shah took special interest in teaching and educating undergraduate and postgraduate throughout his training program. He is a certified OSCE examiner and attended a teaching skills course at St Georges Hospital in January 2010. Since 2006, he has been teaching clinical skills for MSc Cardiology course at the University of Brighton annually. He has been doing this for 2 years along with Prof R. Vincent. It incorporates 20 students from paramedics to nurses to whom Dr. Shah teaches history and clinical skills, the feedback for which has been very positive. He also plays a role of an examiner for these students, setting questionnaires and assessing clinical skills. He conducts bedside teaching sessions for the PACES candidates at his local hospital with 90% pass rate in addition to teaching regularly medical students and house officers in the form of didactic lectures, interactive sessions and clinical skills.
